Why Atelier Per Twee switched from WordPress to SiteManager.

Four years ago Sofie Liesenborghs and Anneleen Salvo started their graphic design studio Atelier Per Twee. Both women had a background in architecture. Triggered by their entrepreneurial spirit, they decided to build a business with a focus on graphic design.

Anneleen: “Designing birth and wedding announcements, were the first jobs we got. After a couple of months, our customer segment started to change. Small businesses, non-profit organizations asked us to design their campaign images, infographics and … websites.”

Customer satisfaction is key in our business. We listen, design and deliver in a way that makes our customers happy.

Having fun together is crucial

Sofie: “Customer satisfaction is key in our business. We listen, design and deliver in a way that makes our customers happy. Having fun together during the project is crucial. We want to focus entirely on the relationship with our customer. This is one of the reasons why we work with other specialists: copywriters, photographers, programmers...”

Professional collaboration enables us to focus on the creative aspect of graphic design. We believe specialists are best in place to get the job done within a certain timeframe and budget. When passionate people are working together, the best results are achieved. And that’s what matters most to our clients.

I got frustrated by losing too much time

“An example that illustrates my point is in web design”, Sofie argued. “I’m not a fully skilled front-end developer, but I master html5 and CSS. When we got our first medium sized website project, I decided to use WordPress. As many other colleagues, I was surprised by the number of templates available on the internet.

I wanted to create unique designs and started to change the code of the templates. But, these templates are not made for editing. I started loosing time and I got frustrated. It just took me too much time and energy, it wasn’t fun anymore. I also underestimated the time spent to update the WordPress versions on my server. I build over 20 websites that way but realized something had to change.”

SiteManager: the perfect solution at the right time

Early 2016, I got the first introduction to SiteManager. It was presented to me as a time-saving platform in which designers and developers could work together on web projects. I could start from scratch or select a theme. Everything I build using the design application was instantly coded and linked to an easy to use and visual CMS system. It’s even possible to edit code and build custom components.”

The timing was perfect. We were looking for a Wordpress alternative. A lot of our customers are startups. They want a great looking professional branded website, but can't afford a custom made solution for which we involve a skilled programmer.

SiteManager was the perfect solution in between. We had the flexibility to make unique designs, without losing too much time in editing CSS. The design editor is very intuitive and easy to use. Using style panels you edit the CSS of the layouts without actually having to code yourself. With the developer application you are even able to edit all the front-end code.

The SiteManager team convinced us with their great onboarding service. I send over a psd-file and they build an entire website … in just 8 hours. Changing to SiteManager was an important decision. We were able to keep our full-service approach. We learned quickly how to optimize the return of the platform. We save time and are able to meet our budgets again. It was a win for us and our customers
