    2024/04/30

Olembe, Yaoundé, Cameroon – The agri-food industry landscape in Cameroon has been enriched by the inauguraton of the ‘Provenderie du Centre’, a state-of-the-art plant dedicated to the production of the animal feed. This large-scale project, which is the result of a solid partnership between the Noutchogouin Group (NJS) and VDS, represents a major investment in the sector.

    Back

Faced with growing demand for animal feed in the Centre region, the Noutchogouin Group has taken the initiative to build a modern, automated plant in Yaoundé. With a total investment of FCFA 5 billion, or around €7.6 million, this new facility has an impressive production capacity of 100,000 tonnes a year, meeting a third of the current feed requirements of chicken farms.

    A fruitful partnership with VDS

This innovative project came about thanks to close collaboration with VDS, which holds a share of the capital. Together, these partners have designed a plant on a one-hectare site equipped with cutting-edge technology to guarantee efficient, high-quality production (automation, pelletising press with a capacity of 20 tonnes per hour).

    A response to logistical challenges

The plant’s strategic location in Olembe, Yaoundé, means it is close to the raw materials needed for production. This location also offers a major logistical advantage by reducing dependence on supplies from the west of the country, in particular from the saturated Bafoussam plant.

    A regional and international impact

The vocation of the ‘Provenderie du Centre’ is not just to meet the needs of the local market. With its production capacity and strategic geographical position, it also aims to serve the central, southern and eastern regions of Cameroon, as well as neighbouring countries of the CEMAC (Central African Economic and Monetary Community), such as Chad, CAR, Congo, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

A vision of self-sufficiency and sustainable growth

Through this project, the Noutchoguoin Group is affirming its desire to contribute to the import substitution policy and promote sustainable economic growth in the region. By investing in modern infrastructure and partnering with key players such as VDS, the Group is strengthening its position as a leader in Cameroon’s livestock industry.
